About Dr. Quintin B. Bullock

Dr. Quintin B. Bullock was appointed to the position of President of Schenectady County Community College by the SCCC Board of Trustees in December 2008 and the SUNY Board of Trustees in January 2009 following a national search. Dr. Bullock fills the vacancy created by the retirement of President Gabe Basil, which was effective December 1, 2008. Dr. Bullock comes to Schenectady County Community College after serving as Provost of the Virginia Beach Campus of Tidewater Community College, the largest of the four-campus system which enrolls more than 23,000 students annually.

Dr. Bullockís 17 years of experience in higher education leadership includes service at Tidewater Community College in Virginia and Monroe Community College in Rochester, New York. He has also amassed a successful teaching record, having taught a variety of Biology courses as an Adjunct Professor at Houston Community College, Monroe Community College, and Tidewater Community College. Most recently, he was appointed as an Adjunct Professor by the Graduate School at Old Dominion University and taught a course in the Department of Education.

A longtime educator, Dr. Bullock holds a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Texas Health Science Center: Dental Branch. He earned his Bachelorís degree in Pre-Med (Biology/Chemistry) and a Masterís degree in Biology Education from Prairie View A&M University. He completed post-doctoral studies at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry where he earned a certificate in Advance Education in General Dentistry.

His leadership training includes the Executive Leadership Institute sponsored by the League for Innovation in the Community College System, the Lakin Institute, the Wharton/IRHE Program in Higher Education, the AACC Future Leaders Program, and the Commonwealth of Virginia Lead Virginia Program.

Dr. Bullock is the recipient of the 2009 City of Virginia Beach Human Rights Award, the 2007 Damiani Administrator Award, the 2005 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Distinguished Service Award, and the 2004 National Council on Black American Affairs Outstanding Leadership in the Community College System Award.

Dr. Bullock is also active in college and community contexts. While at TCC, he served on the boards of the Virginia Beach Chamber of Commerce, Virginia Beach Central Business District, Virginia Beach Forum, and Lake Taylor Transitional Care Hospital.
