Jay Quaintance |
Professor Quaintance served as Director of the TRIO Student Support Services project at SCCC from 1999 to 2008. During that time he also taught various writing courses as a member of the evening faculty. Prior to coming to SCCC, Mr Quaintance worked at the Law, Order and Justice Center as a Mediator and Coordinator of Conflict Resolution Education. Additionally, Professor Quaintance has extensive teaching experience at Dona Ana Community College and New Mexico State University. He holds a B.A. in English and an M.A. in Rhetoric and The Teaching of Writing from NMSU. |

Debra R. Aydinian Hours

An SCCC employee since 1999, Debra Aydinian has served as Secretary in the Department of Developmental Studies for the past five years. Knowledgeable about College and Department operations, she enjoys interacting with and assisting students, faculty, and staff in the Department office. |

Siu Ng |
Siu Ng oversees the daily operations of the Learning Center. She has taught Reading Skills, Writing Skills, and GED preparation classes at SCCC since 2005 when she moved to Schenectady from New York City. In New York, she was a program administrator as well as an instructor of adult literacy and classes in English as a Second Language for a number of community-based organizations. |

Peter Ochshorn Office hours

Dr. Ochshorn has taught and/or is currently teaching Mathematics Skills and Introduction to Algebra for the Department of Developmental Studies, Algebra I and II, Precalculus and Calculus 3 for the Department of Mathematics, Science, and Technology at SCCC. He has also taught economics, econometrics, statistics, and mathematics at other colleges and universities, and consulted and conducted research in the government, private, and non-profit sectors. Alicia M. Richardson Office hours

Alicia Richardson has been appointed as Temporary Instructor in the Humanities and Social Sciences Department and Developmental Studies Department. Last year Alicia was a participant in the College’s Internship Program for the Development of Minority Faculty. She has an M.A. degree in Africana Studies from the University at Albany and a B.A. degree in English from St. Joseph College. |

Cynthia A. Taber Office hours

Professor Cynthia Taber has taught at SCCC since 1990 and currently teaches Reading Skills, Writing Skills, and College Composition. She enjoys incorporating technology into the classroom and uses ANGEL, the college's learning management system, to enhance her classes. She is a proponent of strengths-based education and has received some training in Gallop's StrengthsQuest program. In 2005, the SCCC Foundation awarded her the Excellence in Teaching Award. Then, in 2006, she was awarded the SUNY Chancellor's Award for Excellence in Teaching. She maintains professional memberships in the New York College Learning Skills Association and the National Council of Teachers of English. |

Kathryn L. Tomaino Office hours

Professor Tomaino taught various computer courses part-time at SCCC from 1978 to 1983. Full-time since 1990, she teaches Math Skills, Introduction to Algebra, Pre-calculus and Concepts in Mathematics. She has also taught Introduction to Computers, Math Appreciation, Algebra I and Algebra II. Professor Tomaino is a member of the New York State Mathematics Association of Two-Year Colleges, holding executive board positions, the American Mathematical Association of Two-Year Colleges, and the National Council of Teachers of Mathematics. She was selected for inclusion in Who's Who Among America's Teachers in 2002 and 2004, and Who's Who in America in 2003. She serves as advisor to the Math/Computer Club. |

Mrs. Walsh has taught Reading Skills, Writing Skills, and Study Skills at SCCC. She has also taught history and reading in public schools and has worked at various museums as an educational specialist. She is interested in brain based education and uses many strategies in the classroom. She is a member of the New York College Learning Skills Association. |

Ronalyn collaborates with the Department of Developmental Studies and Trio to coordinate the college's tutoring program. She also teaches Introduction to Psychology and Sociology, as well as Minority Groups and Social Problems. Previously, she worked at Schenectady County Community College as an academic advisor and a learning center tutor. Before coming to the college, she worked at SUNY System Administration in the Community College Office. She holds a Master's Degree in Education and has completed all of the required coursework for a Doctorate in Curriculum and Instruction. |

Ms. Michelle Aydinian has been an adjunct for the Department of Developmental studies since September, 2008, teaching such courses as Writing Skills I, Reading Skills I, and Skills for College Success. Additionally, she has tutored at the college’s Learning Center, as well as worked in the newly created Testing Center. Ms. Aydinian received her B.S. in English Adolescent Education from SUNY Oneonta and her M.S. as a Literacy Specialist from the University at Albany. She enjoys using multimodal strategies in the classroom to connect students’ interests and lives to the curriculum. |

Judy has been a counselor in the TRIO program for the past two years. Prior to that she was a teacher and counselor in public schools where she spent time teaching study skills to students in middle and high school. She received her B.S. in Education/Psychology from Skidmore College and a M.S. and C.A.S. in Counseling Psychology and Student Development from SUNY Albany. She has NYS licensure in teaching and school counseling and was certified in Rational Emotive Behavior Therapy at the Albert Ellis Institute. She developed her interest in college counseling and higher education when she was the Education Services Officer for the Department of the Army at NATO Headquarters in Brussels, Belgium. |

Ms. Donna Gigliotti has been working for SCCC since 1997, beginning with the Liberty Partnerships Program. Since 1998, she has taught for the Developmental Studies and Humanities departments, teaching such courses as Writing Skill II, Reading Skills II, College Composition, Intro. to Lit., American Literature, and Freshman Success Seminar. She also teaches literature courses for Hudson Valley Community College. |

Doug has worked as a tutor in the SCCC Math Lab since 2004 and has been an instructor at SCCC since 2009. He currently teaches Introduction to Algebra and Math Skills. Originally an engineering major at Lehigh University, he graduated from the College of Saint Rose in 2008 with a B.A. in Math Education. |

Heather L. Meaney |
Heather Meaney has taught the First Year Success Seminar (FSS 120) since 2004. She thoroughly enjoys sharing information about SCCC, introducing new students to staff members, and covering topics including time management, goal setting, and stress management with students in FSS 120 to enhance their success during their first year. She can often be heard saying, “You can do it!” Heather has been with the College as Public Relations/Publications Specialist since 1995. |
