About Dave Russell
I am years old, and i've been working with the Academic Computing Department as Technical Assistant since February 17, 1998. My responsibilities include troubleshooting various hardware and software problems on the computers that the students use for their studies as well as setting up new hardware in the Computer Labs and Smart Classrooms. I also help students with various problems with the software programs installed on the computers and maintain multimedia equipment such as LCD projectors campus wide. I am proficient in MS-DOS, Windows 3.1, Windows 95, Windows 98, and various flavors of the Linux operating system. I am also somewhat familiar with Windows NT 4.0, UNIX, and Novell Netware. Programming experience includes Borland Turbo Pascal 7.0, Assembler, C++, and Microsoft Visual Basic. My personal interests include working with computer hardware, 3D graphics, internet, stock car racing, working on cars, and listening to music (alternative, classic rock and metal). I was born in San Diego, California, at Balboa Naval Hospital but have lived in the Schenectady area for most of my life, except for the period between 1986 and 1990 when my family moved to the San Diego area due to the U.S. Navy.
