The Story of Stone Soup and Continuing Education
Once upon a time, somewhere in post-war Eastern Europe, there was a great famine in which people jealously hoarded whatever food they could find, hiding it even from their friends and neighbors. One day a wandering soldier came into a village and began asking questions as if he planned to stay for the night. (continued)

Continuing Education Includes Credit Courses
Continuing Education means different things to different people. The first thought is generally, “adult education” or “non-credit” courses, but at SCCC, Continuing Education also means traditional “credit” courses. The Continuing Education Credit program extends the academic day to accommodate the various needs of our busy students. (continued)

Distance Learning: Take A Course On The Internet
Fall 2001 on-line courses at SCCC continued the pattern of tremendous growth in enrollments for the third straight year. In 1998, the first year that the College offered on-line courses, 44 students showed interest. The following year, 136 took the plunge. By Fall 2000 that number had climbed to 185, and this Fall’s enrollments have vaulted to 307! At 21.9, the average class size is excellent, too. (continued)

Entrepreneurship Training Course
Schenectady County Business Center in cooperation with SCCC is offering a 15-week Entrepreneurship Training Course, January – May, on consecutive Mondays, 6-9 p.m. This intensive program guides entrepreneurs through the step-by-step process of starting, managing, and running a business. Each session features an expert speaking on a business topics critical to the growth of a healthy, successful company. Participants will receive a textbook, The Business Planning Guide, and course materials. The program is held at the Schenectady County Community Business Center and costs $350; scholarships are available. For more information, please call 382-3069.

Be All That You Can Be
In the fall of 2000, Army personnel met with Continuing Education to discuss its need to have available within the Capital Region a 100-hour educational program for potential Army recruits. The program structure would be subject to Army critera, would go through an approval process, and then would be designated as a "Tier I" educational option for recruiters to offer to new recruits. The Capital Region World Trade Center
The Capital Region World Trade Center is a non-profit membership-based organization dedicated to assisting the Region's companies with developing and expanding international commerce. Principal activities include trade information and assistance, promoting member products and services, and timely educational formats, including seminars, workshops and conferences. (continued)
