Ed Baker, Dean - Continuing Education

The Dean's Corner

Stone Soup LogoWelcome to the Fall, 2003 issue of Stone Soup! This has been an especially exhilarating start to a new academic year. Enrollments are clearly the highest in the history of the college, and with so many new students comes all sorts of intensified activities for staff in every office on campus. Among the challenges we have experienced have been increased cars in our parking lots (Believe me, if I'm not here by 8:20 am, I'm parking near the river!), very limited access to the Student Commons due to the replacement of our atrium ceiling windows, and long lines at slow elevators, due to elevator motor damage caused during the Great Northeast Blackout. In spite of it all, campus morale is high and everybody has been amicable in the face of the odds.

In this issue of Stone Soup you will see that Continuing Education has been a busy place over the summer. We ran a successful summer term, our Fall offerings are exceeding all projections, and our new staff are in place for the year. We have lots of news to share with you, and I encourage you to spend a few minutes in Stone Soup, learning what we've been up to.

Thanks, and have a good semester.
