Stone Soup LogoWelcome to the Spring 2005 Edition of Stone Soup. This issue offers some new information about happenings in Continuing Education. Hopefully, you will find it interesting reading.

I am excited about several projects in which we are involved, but it is too soon to give you much information about them. Here is just a little "tickler" information about each:

First, is the creation of an extension site in Hamilton Hill. It is a small computer instructional facility located in partnership with the Better Life Empowerment Center at 920 State Street. There we will offer computer and computer-based non-credit instruction, delivered, for the most part, in Spanish.

Second, is the development of a Homeland Security and Public Safety Training Facility in Glenville. SCCC is one member of a six-partner Consortium which is endeavoring to create this special facility to train first-responders in upstate New York. When completed, it will draw trainees from across the State and the nation.

Tech Valley Regional High SchoolAnd third, is the creation of the Tech Valley Regional High School,to be located in East Greenbush. This new special school will serve 400 students from 46 school districts across the capital region and will offer several high tech curricula, targeting the needs of the Tech Valley economic development initiative. It is a natural location for SCCC to offer University in the High School courses to students who may come our way for our specialized associate degrees.

For more information about these exciting initiatives, you will have to look in upcoming editions of Stone Soup. For now, though, enjoy the Spring 2005 Edition.

And, thanks for stopping by.
