Bridge:

A Success Story

Dominika Turner Dominika Turner is a very determined and dedicated single mother, with a positive and cheerful disposition. She was first enrolled in the Bridge program in May of 2005. She went on to complete Job Readiness & Life Skills Training, and a Certified Nurses Aide training program. As a result, Dominika secured employment as a Certified Nurses Aide at Northwoods Nursing & Rehabilitation Center in Schenectady, NY. In addition, she also enrolled in the SCCC Human Services Degree Program. When asked about her motivation, Dominicka stated, "I am determined to become a successful Black woman, and will not fall victim to my current environment."

From the beginning, Dominicka demonstrated great resolve and character. She actively listened and participated during Job Readiness & Life skills workshops. She utilized various resources and contacts provided to her to secure various community supports. Although the youngest member of Bridge, she had a seriousness and sense of maturity that was amazing.

"I appreciate all that SCCC Bridge does to motivate and empower women. This program provides guidance and supports which encourages us to make positive decisions, accept and welcome of change, and to ready ourselves for success. I enjoy working with Bridge staff, and will not hesitate to recommend the program to other women in my community," said Dominicka.

We at SCCC would like to congratulate her for a job well done, and wish her well as she sets the course to accomplish her goals.
