Continuing Education
(CED) as a separate area of responsibility within an educational institution is
a difficult entity to define. Across the state and the nation, CED units are multivarious
in terms of their responsibilities. Fundamentally, however, they are identified
as the "Lifelong Learning" arms of their

On September 23rd, the
Capital Region World Trade Center
received the quality Certification of the World Trade Centers Association
during the organization's 36th General Assembly in Shanghai, China.

For years, if one were to stroll
into SCCC in the evening, it would not be uncommon to see a dozen students lying
on towels or blankets on the floor. Over and around each student would hover several
others, practicing any number of techniques for treating the injured: mouth-to-mouth
resuscitation, applying bandages and splints, moving and strapping the injured
onto boards, or use of a defibrillator. All of these students were participating
in one of the College's two Emergency Medical Services courses,
Basic EMT Training or
EMT Refresher.

On Wednesday, November 16th the
Capital Region World Trade
Center
(CRWTC) hosted the
2005 Excellence in International Trade Awards Dinner
, it's biggest event of the year at the
Glen Sanders Mansion
in Scotia. The CRWTC staff played
host to approximately two hundred guests, who enjoyed an open bar patio
reception with exhibitors from 5:30-6:30 PM and a catered dinner before the awards

Dominika Turner
is a very determined and dedicated single mother,
with a positive and cheerful disposition. She was first enrolled in the Bridge program in May
of 2005. She went on to complete Job Readiness & Life Skills Training,
and a Certified Nurses Aide training program. As a result, Dominika secured
employment as a Certified Nurses Aide at
Northwoods
Nursing & Rehabilitation Center
in Schenectady, NY.

presented an award for first place for Non-Credit Program Development to SCCC's Community

Schenectady County Community College (SCCC) offers its students and the community
the opportunity for professional development or personal enhancement through the
Division of Continuing Education's
Non-Credit
schedule. Students are offered a variety of non-credit courses in areas
such as Computer Technology, Children's Courses, Music, Recreation, English
as a Second Language, and General Interest.
