SCCC Conducts National Incident Management System (NIMS) Training for Schenectady County Employees and Elected Officials
|
National
Incidents Management Systems (NIMS) is
a system that has been created by the Federal
Office of Homeland Security to provide a consistent nationwide approach
for Federal, State, and Local governments to work together in times of natural
and/or man made disasters. NIMS training provides a core set of principles, concepts
and terminology to allow agencies to better coordinate efforts in preparing, responding
and recovering from domestic incidents- regardless of size, cause or complexity. Over
200 Schenectady County Employees along with Schenectady County elected officials

Youthbuild Construction Training and GED Program Comes to SCCC
|
YouthBuild,
a nationally recognized youth employment and training program has made one of its homes at SCCC. In collaboration with Northeast
Parent and Child, Better
Neighborhoods Inc. and HUD,
SCCC
has begun an 18 month program to provide GED education to 12 students. The students
participate in hands-on construction training 2
days and 2 days per week of GED classes. (continued) For

Non-Credit Summer Courses At SCCC
|
Schenectady County Community College
(SCCC) offers its students and the community the opportunity for professional
development or personal enhancement through the Division
of Continuing Education's Non-Credit schedule.
Students are offered a variety of non-credit courses in areas such as Computer
Technology, Children's Courses, Music, Recreation, English as a Second Language,

Schenectady
County Community College (SCCC) participated
in recent efforts to promote concurrent enrollment during a Day on the Hill sponsored
by the National
Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships (NACEP). The day was
spent meeting with members of U.S. Congress, and culminated a four-day conference
