In
the Spring of 2007 Schenectady County Community College (SCCC) partnered
with the Colonie
Senior Service Centers, Inc. in order to bring lifelong
learning opportunities to senior citizens at the Beltrone
Living Center. The courses allowed senior citizens
and baby boomers to take advantage of new learning experiences without
having to take actual college courses. Two non-credit courses, Introduction
to Digital Photography and Cooking for Adults, were initially
offered and met with much success.
A story about SCCC's non-credit courses being offered
at the Beltrone Living Center in Colonie was included on a new program
entitled "It's An Age Thing," which aired on
local PBS station WMHT on June 20, 2007. The program featured
an interview with Maria Kotary (left),
Associate for Continuing Education, and Shirley Crane
(right) ,
Adjunct Faculty Member who teaches Digital Photography.
