Capital Region World Trade
Center, in cooperation with Union College Graduate Management Institute, invite
you to join us on Thursday, March 28, 2002 at the Union College Hale House for
a luncheon briefing by His Excellency, Nguyen Tam Chien, Ambassador of the Socialist
Republic of Vietnam to the United States. His Excellency will discuss the recent
implementation of the U.S. - Vietnam Bilateral Trade Agreement and the opportunities
this creates for U.S. companies to do business in and with Vietnam.
With the
historical signing of the U.S. - Vietnam Bilateral Trade
Agreement (BTA), on December 10, 2001, Normal Trade Relations (NTR)/Most
Favoured Nation (MFN) status was extended to Vietnam (subject to an annual
Jackson-Vanik waiver by the President) and will effectively lower Vietnamese
tariffs on hundreds of categories of U.S. goods and farm products. BTA has
created a new era in U.S. - Vietnam relations and will launch Vietnam on a path
to full membership in the World Trade Organization (WTO).
