A Special Embassy Briefing:
H.E. Nguyen Tam Chien
Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of
Vietnam to the United States

Capital Region World Trade Center, in cooperation with Union College Graduate Management Institute, invite you to join us on Thursday, March 28, 2002 at the Union College Hale House for a luncheon briefing by His Excellency, Nguyen Tam Chien, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam to the United States. His Excellency will discuss the recent implementation of the U.S. - Vietnam Bilateral Trade Agreement and the opportunities this creates for U.S. companies to do business in and with Vietnam.

With the historical signing of the U.S. - Vietnam Bilateral Trade Agreement (BTA), on December 10, 2001, Normal Trade Relations (NTR)/Most Favoured Nation (MFN) status was extended to Vietnam (subject to an annual Jackson-Vanik waiver by the President) and will effectively lower Vietnamese tariffs on hundreds of categories of U.S. goods and farm products. BTA has created a new era in U.S. - Vietnam relations and will launch Vietnam on a path to full membership in the World Trade Organization (WTO).
