Schenectady County Community College (SCCC) offers
its students and the community the opportunity for professional
development or personal enhancement through the
Division of
Continuing Education's non-credit schedule. Students are
offered a variety of non-credit courses in areas such as Computer
Technology, Music, GED Preparation, College Preparation, Archaeology,
Fine Art, Writing, and General Interest.
This Spring 2002 semester, a large variety of new and
exciting courses are currently being offered through Continuing
Education. A popular class this semester has been "Introduction to
English Horseback Riding". This course is offered in conjunction with
New Horizons Stables. Students who were lucky enough to able to
ensure themselves a spot in this much sought after course will be
able to learn proper English Riding technique, horse grooming,
tacking and barn management, as well as safety while riding.
Other new and exciting courses include "Introduction to
Rock Climbing" for the adventurous at heart, "Ballroom/Social
Dancing" and "Latin/Swing Dancing", "Medical Terminology" for
students who would like to interact more effectively in the
medical community, and nutrition courses such as "A, B, C's of
Child Nutrition" and "Exploring the World of Soy" for the
healthy minded students. Planning a trip to Italy? Why
not take our "Conversational Italian" course. This course is
geared toward the potential traveler. Students will learn
basic conversational Italian and how to communicate in
various conversational situations.
As always, non-credit Computer Technology courses include a
variety of basic introductory courses for students just
learning how to operate and navigate the personal computer.
Courses such as Introduction to Windows 98, Computer Survival
I and II, Introduction to the Internet, and Control Your Computer
Files instruct students on the proper ways to maneuver, customize,
and control the computer and surf the Internet. Students
considering learning how to build a web site can also take
"Macromedia Web Designing: Dreamweaver" and receive a hands
on overview of the software program.
