Courses At SCCC

 

Schenectady County Community College (SCCC) offers its students and the community the opportunity for professional development or personal enhancement through the Division of Continuing Education's non-credit schedule. Students are offered a variety of non-credit courses in areas such as Computer Technology, Children's Courses, Music, and General Interest.

Computer Courses
This summer, non-credit will offer a scaled down selection of basic introductory computer courses for students just learning how to operate and navigate the personal computer. These courses instruct students on the proper ways to maneuver, customize, and control the computer and surf the Internet.

- Introduction to the Internet
- Introduction to Digital Photography
- Introduction to Using Scanners
- American Greetings

Children's Courses

New and exciting this summer, SCCC is pleased to offer a variety of children's courses. Parents can currently sign their children up for courses in any and all of the following courses:

* NYS Safe Boating for Children - This course is open to all children ages 10-18 who would like to obtain a NYS Boating Safety Certificate.
* Art for Children - Over the course of 5 weeks the students will create their own piñatas.
* Acting Workshop for Children - The session will end with a performance of a short collection of play cuttings presented by the class.
* Professional Baking for Children - Come and join Chef Gail Sokol for a hands-on, one-week baking camp in which students will bake incredible goodies such as baked Alaska, chocolate truffles, and apple gallettes.
* Voice for Children - A class for kids who love to sing. Recital on the last day of class.
* American Red Cross Baby Sitting Course - A course on babysitting responsibilities, accident prevention, etc. Students who attend will receive an American Red Cross Certification.

Music Courses and General Interest

Other new and exciting courses include "Group Guitar", "Introduction to Rock Climbing" for the adventurous at heart, "English as a Second Language" for students who would like to work on their English writing and speaking skills, "Introduction to English Horseback Riding" for students who would like to learn proper English Riding technique, and a nutrition course "Bountiful Harvest - Healthy Ideas for Using Fruits and Vegetables" for the healthy minded students.
