GED Preparation Courses

at SCCC

 
The GED (General Equivalency Diploma) Preparation programs offered at SCCC allow students ages 17 and older the opportunity to earn a high school equivalency diploma. By passing the GED exam, an individual demonstrates that she or he has the skills and knowledge expected of a high school graduate.

Graduates with DiplomaSCCC offers a variety of GED Preparation programs. CFA 095 GED Preparation offers students the opportunity to build their basic reading, writing, and mathematic skills within a 6-week period. Students are assessed and instruction is based on their individual and group needs. Students attend 5 days a week, Monday - Friday, 8:30 AM - 12:30 PM. At the end of the 6-week period, the students take the two-day GED exam. This Spring semester, SCCC is offering 3 different sections of this morning program.

Students who are unable to attend the intensive morning program can elect to enroll in the evening GED Preparation program. SCCC offers an evening program that runs two days a week, Mondays and Wednesdays, from 6-9 PM. This program runs the entire length of the semester and students take the GED exam at the end of the course.

Military LogoSCCC also offers the CFA 108 TIER GED program. This program provides students with basic remedial education to prepare for the GED exam, military service or entrance into college. It is a specific Adult Educational Program that includes topics related to military careers. This program meets U.S. Army Tier 1 requirements. The U.S. Army and the U.S. Air Force accept graduates from the Tier One Program.

Eagle with US FlagThe TIER GED program is designed with an open enrollment, meaning that students can begin classes at any time - summer included. All students must attend class for no less than 100 hours before receiving an Adult Education Diploma.
