The Dean's Corner

Dean's Corner If there is a problem with being a Continuing Educator, it is that there is virtually no down time. Our Continuing Education office operates like a business, open from 8:30 am - 8:00 pm every day except Friday, when we close at 4:30 pm. And, we are open Saturdays from 8:00 am – noon. We run full throttle twelve months per year. (continued)

The Tried and True and Those Brand New…
Tried and True One of the major challenges for the Continuing Education Credit Division is the Recruitment and Development of New Teaching Faculty and the Retention of the Returning Faculty. People choose to teach in the Evenings at the local Community College for a variety of reasons. (continued)

GED Preparation Courses at SCCC

GEDThe GED (General Equivalency Diploma) programs offered at SCCC allow students ages 17 and older the opportunity to earn a high school equivalency diploma. By passing the GED exam, an individual demonstrates that she or he has the skills and knowledge expected of a high school graduate. (continued)

"Professional" Cooking for Children
Professional Cooking for ChildrenCome and join Chef Gail Sokol for a hands-on, one week baking camp this summer and learn culinary secrets that only chefs know. This camp is for the serious young chef who will learn how to bake scrumptious goodies and delicious entrees that they can sample and take home to friends and family. Family members are welcome to enjoy our goodies on the last day of class. (continued)

Colonial Festival
Colonial FestivalGlen Sanders Mansion was the scene for the traditional dinner - complete with Colonial attire - that kicked off the Colonial Festival of 2003. Dr. Ronald Kingsley and Louise Basa, archaeology instructors at Schenectady County Community College, attended the dinner that marked the beginning of a yearlong schedule of events. According to the Schenectady Heritage Area, that has coordinated
the Festival, the Festival is intended to be "a tribute to our forefathers and the spirit and commitment with which they faced the challenges of colonial life". (continued)
