Welcome to the Spring
2004 issue of Stone Soup.
The winter of 2004 has been an especially interesting time for the Division
of Continuing Education. Call it a time of and expansion
and groundwork. Expansion can be seen clearly in our University
in the High School and
Distance
Learning offerings, as detailed in articles in this issue.
Both of these programs have extended the campus to individuals in outlying
areas, bolstering our part-time enrollments without impacting upon campus
classroom space or parking. And, groundwork can be seen in efforts to
build the foundation for future programming - much of which exists for
the moment only as potential. Cases in point: The potential for collaborative
programming with Schenectady's new Zone
5 Police Academy and with SuperPower,
an emerging international force in power distribution. I encourage you
to read about these new efforts below.
Like most staff at SCCC, Continuing Educators are continuously
exploring the horizon for new and exciting opportunities to keep SCCC
in the spotlight as a primary educational and economic development resource
for our community. As you will see in this issue of Stone
Soup, SCCC is highly visible.
Enjoy,
Dean Baker
