of 2004 has been an especially interesting time for the Division
of Continuing Education
. Call it a time of and expansion and groundwork. Expansion

The College's University in the High
School courses have kept up the pace in enrollment
growth during the 2004 Spring term, with a total of
485 students enrolled in 34 courses. This brings
the annual total to 1,053 students in UHS courses - a
significant jump from last year's total of 519. (continued)

Schenectady County Community College (SCCC) offers its students
and the community the opportunity for professional development
or personal enhancement through the Division
of Continuing Education's
Non-Credit
schedule. Students are offered a variety of non-credit
courses in areas such as Computer Technology, Children's Courses,
Music, Recreational, English as a Second Language, and General

As announced at a special press conference on March 31st, the
capital region's Zone
5 Police Academy
has selected Schenectady's IUE Hall as its new home.
With special assistance from Senator Hugh Farley and the
Metroplex
Board, Zone 5 will own and renovate the building to meet
its training and administrative needs. SCCC will utilize some
of the training space for our EMS courses. When needed, Zone 5
will utilize SCCC's community conference space in the Stockade

, have joined forces to develop a project which, if
funded, will catapult SuperPower into the manufacturing

Operating since the Fall of 2000, the Tier
One Program at SCCC works in partnership
with the United
States Army
and Air
Force
. More than 20 recruiting stations in the greater
Capital District now refer potential enlistees for GED
preparation or Adult Education. Traditional core subjects
of mathematics, reading comprehension and writing skills
have always been at the heart of the program. (continued)

In the Fall 2002, Dr. David Hennessy appointed Kim
Fredericks to teach Business Communications in the
Business and Law Department. Being a Ph.D candidate
in Public Administration at SUNY Albany as
well as a registered dietician, Kim has interdisciplinary
