Food Marketing and Merchandising

This course provides an introduction to the food industry. Topics include the store layout, shelf allocation, inventory controls, pricing, and display techniques, as well as detailed analysis of common practices in buying, advertising, promoting new products and planning and controlling profit. Students are introduced to the regulatory and legal aspects of marketing and merchandising, the influence of the consumer movement, and current marketing and merchandising practices and trends.
