Integration of Theory and Field Experience I

This course provides students with an initial direct practice experience. The course is a combination of field work and nine lecture hours, which provides for an integration of theoretical concepts with practical experience. The field work, a minimum of 108 volunteer hours, takes place in a human service agency under the supervision of an experienced worker. Emphasis is placed on the relationship of the specific agency to the larger community, the particular role responsibilities of the student volunteer, and the steps in the human service process. Grading is on a pass/fail basis.
