HUS225 Integration of Theory and Field I/Chemical Dependency (4-0-4)

This course provides students with an initial opportunity at a local agency to obtain experience within the field of chemical dependency. The seminar class integrates field practice with theory and emphasizes the student's role and responsibilities, the agency's relationship to the larger community and the human service process. The field experience, minimum of 150 clock hours, takes place in a New York State Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) certified chemical dependency agency, under the supervision of a qualified health professional. If a signed internship contract is not submitted by the end of the fifth week of classes, the studnet is required to withdraw from the course. Grading is on a pass/fail basis.
