The Exceptional Child
This course is an introduction to various types of childhood exceptionalities: mental retardation, speech and language disorders, learning disabilities, behavior/ emotional disturbances, sensory impairments, physical disabilities, health problems, multicultural/ bilingual special education, giftedness and creativity. The emphasis will be on the history, causes and preventions, profiles, educational issues, and effects on the families.
