SCCC's Humanities and Social Sciences Department offers two kinds of courses:
* History, Philosophy, and courses with
the HSS prefix can serve as either Humanities or Social Science courses. The Teacher Education Training courses that apply to the Teacher Education Training and Early Childhood Education programs can also serve as Liberal Arts electives, as can any Humanities or Social Science course.
* Honors courses in various areas of the Humanities and Social Sciences provide enrichment opportunities for strong and motivated students.
