Campaign for SCCC
In
1995, the SCCC Foundation initiated the Campaign For SCCC to
raise funds in support of the College. The Foundation took this bold step
because state and local funding has not kept pace with the demands placed
on the College by its many constituents. While Schenectady County Community
College has managed its resources exceptionally well, we cannot depend on
public revenue as we have in the past. If the College is to continue to grow,
prosper, and contribute to the success of our community--if SCCC is to continue
educating the Capital Region workforce for a global economy--alternative sources
of funding are necessary.
Never before have we approached the community for support of a major gifts campaign, but now, SCCC is seeking your help to continue our record of high quality, affordable instruction in career education, college transfer programs, business training and retraining.
Specifically, the Campaign is seeking to raise funds in three areas:
- Equipment and Renovations
- Workforce Enhancement and Program Development
- The Fund for Excellence
To
date, just over $1.6 million has been raised in gifts and pledges. Our goal
is to reach $2 million by the end of the Campaign in 2001.
Because our graduates tend to live and work in the area, every dollar invested stays in our community for the long run. With your help, our community will reap significant dividends in the improvements to its economic health and quality of life that accompany a more educated and productive workforce.
Clearly, SCCC is a vital member of the Capital Region community and provides important educational opportunities to a broad, culturally diverse constituency--opportunities that in the long run benefit us all.
As we approach our 30th year, the statistics are impressive. Over 200,000 registrants have taken courses at SCCC and the College has awarded over 10,000 degrees and certificates. We welcome your involvement and support and invite you to join us--and all of our individual, business, industrial, and community partners--in turning the key to the future of the Capital Region.
