  • Begley Library circulation desk
To activate your ID card for library use, present your ID card at the library circulation desk for a barcode sticker. You are financially responsible for all items borrowed with your ID card.  Do not lend your ID card to anyone. Report lost ID cards to the circulation desk immediately.

Community & SUNY Borrowing Privileges
Begley Library issues library cards to Empire State College students; SUNY students, faculty and staff upon presentation of their current, valid SUNY college ID; and honors current Direct Access Program cards issued by the home libraries of program participants.  Visit or call the circulation desk at 381-1235 for more information.

Overdue Materials
The library will send an overdue notice as a courtesy, but patrons are responsible for returning materials by the due date whether or not they receive a written notice.
When materials are overdue, further borrowing privileges may be suspended.  When materials are lost or damaged, a replacement cost plus a processing fee will be charged.  Grades and transcripts will be withheld until materials are returned and/or paid for.  Pre-registration for future courses may be delayed as well.

Borrowing from other libraries

SCCC students, faculty and staff may borrow materials from other libraries worldwide using ILLiad, the college’s online interlibrary loan system.  You can access ILLiad directly from most of the library’s databases, the SUNYConnect catalog, and WorldCat.  Once you have used one of these research tools to identify the item you would like to borrow, follow the “Request Item” or “Check for Full Text”  links to place your request with ILLiad.  First-time users need to create an ILLiad account and set up a username and password.  To view a tutorial on setting up an account, click here.Certain items, such as journal articles, may be delivered to your e-mail account, reducing the need for you to visit the library.  [for more information about ILLiad]
