Since Begley Library introduced its first online periodical databases through OCLC’s FirstSearch in 1996, the number of databases and the periodical titles indexed within them has grown more than ten-fold. And the number of those titles available as full text has grown even faster. With this increased complexity has the increased possibility of missing an article simply because you didn’t search the right database.

Now, using SFX software you can link from many of our web-based databases to most of the rest without retyping your search terms.

The key to finding your full text article is by searching the best or biggest database first. We suggest starting with OCLC’s ArticleFirst database, which contains the most indexed periodical titles of any of our online lineup; over 17,000.

Conduct your search just as you normally would starting with our Electronic Database page, except now you when you have obtained a citation, you should see a linking field ' View citation via SFX server '. Click on that and a new window should open, listing any other web-based resources that may contain this article, including any full text versions. Their are also outbound SFX links in the EBSCO and Gale/Infotrac databases. Good luck and happy hunting!

A list of journal titles included in the SFX service has been added to our website. Select the SFX e-journal title list link on the electronic database page to see this list.

SFX is provided by the State University of New York’s SUNYConnect.
