Capital Region Wind Ensemble

Side-By-Side Concert

It has long been the mission of the Capital Region Wind Enseble (CRWE) to serve as role models for young student musicians. As such, the CRWE would like to invite music educators to recommend students to join us for our second concert of the 2012 -2013 season.

The concert will be held Sunday, March 24, 2013, at 3:00 p.m. The selected students will play Norman Dello Joio’s Fantasies on a Theme by Haydn and Soichi Konagaya’s Star Puzzle March side-by-side with the musicians of the CRWE.

All rehearsals and the concert will be at Schenectady County Community College. Rehearsal dates are:

• Sunday, March 3, 5:15 - 8:00 p.m.
• Sunday, March 17, 5:15 - 8:00 p.m.
• Saturday, March 23, 9:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m.

Students will work with CRWE members in sectionals, rehearse with the full group and participate in master classes where interested students will be given the opportunity to perform solo literature in a workshop format. James Houlik, the leading performer on tenor saxophone in the world and soloist of the performance, as well as area professional musicians, will present the master classes.
