SCCC Chamber Series Concert - #3, Aaron´s Horizons featuring Musicians of Ma´alwyck, 7:30 p.m., Taylor Auditorium. Free. This performance will feature works by Copland, Wagner and McGlaughin. Copland´s Appalachian Spring, commissioned by dancer Martha Graham, is a perennial favorite and its use of the Shaker theme "Simple Gifts" gives it a unique local tie, it is paired here with McGlaughlin´s composition Aaron´s Horizons, written for the same forces. McGlaughlin is nationally recognized for his work as host of St. Paul Sunday Morning on NPR. The Siegfried Idyll was written in 1870 by Wagner for his beloved wife Cosima to celebrate the birth of their son Siegfried.

Ethan Watermeier, baritone, a native of Plattsburgh, N.Y., has starred as Javert and Factory Foreman/Combeferre in Les Mis, Broadway National Tour; The Geographer/Hunter/Baobab in The Little Prince and Marquis d´Obigny in La Traviata, Houston Grand Opera; principal soloist in Bright-Eyed Joy with Ricky Ian Gordon, Hawaii Performing Arts Festival; Masetto in Don Giovanni at ThMunicipal in Castres (France) for the New York Opera Society; Baron Douphol in La Traviata, Santa Fe Opera; and Joe Harland in the world premiere of John Musto´s Later the Same Evening, National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. He holds a B.M. from Northwestern University and an M.M. from the Manhattan School of Music and he is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Opera Performance at the University of Maryland. The Empire Jazz Orchestra Jazz Masters Performance featuring Vince DiMartino, Trumpet, 8:00 p.m., Taylor Auditorium. Vince DiMartino is one of America´s most sought-after trumpet performers and educators, and is equally known as a jazz artist. He has been the lead and solo trumpet in the Lionel Hampton Band, the Chuck Mangione Band, the Clark Terry Band and the Eastman Arrangers Holiday Orchestra. Vince has been a member of the artist-faculty of the highly acclaimed Skidmore Jazz Institute since its inception in 1988. He is currently the W.
