The SCCC Hotel, Culinary Arts and Tourism Department presents A Culinary Tribute to SCCC’s 40th Anniversary, from 5 to 7 p.m., in the Van Curler Room and Lally Mohawk Room. This tasting reception will feature menu items from the historic Van Curler Hotel and highlight culinary courses offered at the College. Proceeds will benefit SCCC Foundation Scholarships. Capital Region Wind Ensemble presents Musica Antiqua featuring Guest Soloist Ethan Watermeier, Baritone, 3:00 p.m., Taylor Auditorium. This concert will include Alfred Reed´s Entrance of the Court from Othello, Norman Dello Joio´s Songs of Abelard, Gordon Jacob´s William Byrd Suite and Fisher Tull´s Sketches on a Tudor Song. Ethan Watermeier, baritone, a native of Plattsburgh, N.Y., has starred as Javert and Factory Foreman/Combeferre in Les Mis, Broadway National Tour; The Geographer/Hunter/Baobab in The Little Prince and Marquis d´Obigny in La Traviata, Houston Grand Opera; principal soloist in Bright-Eyed Joy with Ricky Ian Gordon, Hawaii Performing Arts Festival; Masetto in Don Giovanni at ThMunicipal in Castres (France) for the New York Opera Society; Baron Douphol in La Traviata, Santa Fe Opera; and Joe Harland in the world premiere of John Musto´s Later the Same Evening, National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. He holds a B.M. from Northwestern University and an M.M. from the Manhattan School of Music and he is currently pursuing his Doctorate in Opera Performance at the University of Maryland.
