Ways to obtain college credits

SCCC recognizes the unique challenges that adult students face in balancing families, school and work. Therefore, we would also like to tell you about different ways to earn credit outside the traditional classroom.

Challenge Exams: Special examinations have been created by departments. Credit is earned by passing the exam without ever attending the class.

Transfer credit: Credit can be awarded for coursework with a grade of C or higher that has been completed at another accredited college or university.

Credit for life or work experience: Credit may be awarded through the appropriate department for college level learning acquired through life or work experiences. These learning experiences must be documented and equivalent to courses offered at SCCC.

CLEP Exam: SCCC uses the College Level Examination Program (CLEP) to award credit by examination for specific courses. For more information, visit www.collegeboard.com/clep or call Pat Ostrander in the Advisement Center, 381-1277
