TRIO Student Support Services
Elston Hall, Room 328
TRIO is a unique program at SCCC that assists students to adjust to the college environment, to be successful academically, and to plan and prepare for fruitful careers or transfer to a four-year college. TRIO counselors offer all students an intake appointment to find out about their academic, financial aid, career and personal needs. Counselors work with students regularly throughout each semester to help achieve their goals for academic success.
The TRIO office is open Monday–Friday, 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. Evening hours can be arranged by appointment, and the office is open during the summer months, too.
Because this program is federally funded, all students must meet eligibility criteria and complete an application form. All information supplied has to be verified before students are notified of their acceptance into the program. Applications can be obtained in 328 Elston Hall, or by telephone at (518) 381-1465. Tutoring ServicesTutoring is a support service available free to all TRIO students to help them achieve their academic goals. Students meet with a tutor for one hour at a time on a weekly basis throughout the semester. This requires a commitment to work together on a subject over the course of several weeks or even the entire semester. Students may be eligible to receive up to three hours of tutoring per week. TRIO tutoring is available for almost all courses offered at SCCC.
Applications to request a TRIO tutor are available in 328 Elston Hall.
