Professor Lou Aiossa spent over 23 years in municipal policing serving as a patrol officer, special operations officers, strategic deployment officer, Hostage Negotiator, Honor Guard Member, Technical Accident Investigator, Multi Discipline Police Instructor, Master Police Instructor, SWAT Team member, and Detective in Criminal Investigations. He spent over 10 years in investigations, and over 16 years on the tactical team, with 13 of those years in leadership roles culminating with being the Tactical Team Leader. He spent over five years as the Detective Sergeant in narcotics investigations. During his law enforcement career, he received many awards and commendations to include but not limited to supervisor of the year,  the medal of valor, unit citations, and multiple exceptional duty awards.  

Professor Aiossa is considered an expert in the field of Police use of Force and Human Performance. He is currently a member of the Association of Force Investigators and has been called to testify in matters of police use of force. 

With his experience, Professor Aiossa attempts to bring everything that students learn in the classroom to life and demonstrate the real-world considerations of what is being learned.
