Dr. Edward S. Marschilok is an educator, administrator, and musician. He previously worked as the Supervisor of the Curriculum, Instruction and Instructional Technology Team at the New York State Education Department (NYSED). For many years at NYSED he served as an Associate in Music Education. He has also held positions at the Hudson Falls and Cooperstown Central School Districts in the state of New York. Dr. Marschilok was the Administrative Director for the New York State Summer School of the Arts School of Orchestral Studies, which is co-sponsored by NYSED, the Philadelphia Orchestra, the New York State School Music Association, and the Saratoga Performing Arts Center. For twenty years, he served on the Board of the Empire State Youth Orchestra (ESYO). In 2016 ESYO recognized his distinguished service with their Luminary Award.
A native of Troy, NY, Dr. Marschilok regularly performs on the bassoon and contrabassoon with the Schenectady Symphony Orchestra, the Capital Region Wind Ensemble and the Zephyr Winds, and has played with the Albany, Glens Falls and Catskill Symphony Orchestras. As a woodwind doubler, he has played in all of the major venues in the Capital District. Dr. Marschilok maintains a private studio where he teaches bassoon, clarinet and saxophone.
