HUS226 Integration of Theory and Field II/Chemical Dependency (4-0-4)

This course provides students with a second opportunity at a local agency to obtain experience within the field of checmial dependency. The seminar class integrates field practice with theory and emphasizes the student's roles and responsibilities, the agency's relationship to the larger community, and the human service process. The field experience, a minimum of 150 clock hours, takes place in a New York State Office of Alcohol and Substance Abuse Services (OASAS) certified chemical dependency agency, under the supervision of a qualified health professional. If a signed contract is not submitted by the end of the fifth week of classes, the student is required to withdraw from the course. Grading is on a pass/fail basis.
