Course Description
MUS252 Theory IV (2-0-2)

Theory IV builds on the concepts of Theory III (MUS 251) and covers two-voice eighteenth century counterpoint, altered dominants, chromatic mediants, enharmonic modulation, common tone diminished 7th chords. There is a focus on the analysis of sonata form. Twentieth century techniques include Impressionism, twelve-tone technique, and pitch class sets.
