Make an appointment so we can fully understand your needs before suggesting specific resources found below.

Job Search Assistance through Personal Appointments
We teach students to develop a targeted job search including employer/industry research, targeting a resume and cover letter, effectively communicating during an interview, ensuring appropriate follow-up, expanding their job search networks and organizing a successful job search process.

Academic Interaction
We participate in classroom and club presentations related to employment trends and job search skills. Work with academic clubs to generate work related experiences and exposure to careers. Coordinate and advertise non-credit internship opportunities such as the Federal Internship Program, Senate & Assembly Internships, and internships offered throughout the year by local and regional employers.

Employment Trends Information using Resource Center
We teach students how to research information using computer resources, books and printed materials, and through personal networking to better understand industry and occupational projections, local and regional demands, salary ranges, job descriptions, certification requirements, and marketable skills related to targeted occupations.

Developing Contacts
Our office maintains a database with over 2,000 business contacts that can be used to search for potential opportunities and personal referrals. Coordinate and advertise Capital Region employment/career fairs. Post jobs, civil service exams, internships and career events on a daily basis on our JOBLine computer system and office homepage starting in the fall.

On-Campus Recruiting

  • We schedule numerous businesses for on-campus promotions and interview sessions.
  • Coordinate targeted recruitment events for academic departments.
  • Maintain a resume referral service which matches candidates to employer job orders.

We have helped students gain opportunities with the Pentagon; The Senate and Assembly; General Electric, Lockheed Martin and IBM, Walt Disney World; MGM Grand Hotel; Capital Region Law Firms, Corporations, Small Businesses, Human Service Agencies, Civil Service, Hotels and Restaurants, and so much more.
