Needle Felted Animals

Learn how to sculpt with wool through the art of needle felting during this three-hour workshop. Students will gain skills in shaping and sculpting wool with the felting tools, blending colors, and creating facial features and other forms like wings and ears. Animal design can range from realistic to animated. All materials will be provided and no experience is necessary. Register for Needle Felted Animals

Learn how to paint and sculpt with wool during this three-hour needle felting workshop. Students will learn how to work with wool felt to create the shape of your pumpkin, how to sculpt wool three dimensionally to form the stem, leaves and other fun details, how to blend colors, and how to create a painted effect using wool roving and felting needle to bring your pumpkin to life. NEW! Felted Seasonal Wreath

Explore the art of wet felting, nuno felting, and needle felting during this sampler workshop to create a seasonal wreath full of flora, foliage, and fungi. Students will learn how to sculpt three dimensional organic forms through both wet felting and needle felting to create leaves, flowers, mushrooms, vines, and more. All of the work will be affixed to a gold hoop that can be wrapped in wool or left partially uncovered to highlight the beautiful textures created. All materials supplied. Note: All students need to bring a bath towel and hand towel to class along with a plastic bag to bring the towels home in, as they will be wet by the end of the class. Students can also bring an apron if they wish.

Intro to Drawing

This course will introduce simple drawing techniques in pencil and color pencil. With instructor demonstrations, students will be introduced to still life, the human figure, portraiture, landscape, cityscape, mechanics, animals, and the mind’s eye. Photos and 3-D model references will be used.  Art History and Aesthetics (including color theory) will be integrated.  Accommodations will be made for students with more drawing experience. Materials list: Hershengping Drawing Pencils sketch pencil art supplies set; 11 x14 spiral mixed media heavier paper, spiral pad (at least 30 sheets), and Kalour 72 count colored pencils.

Wet Felted Bowls and Baskets

Learn the ancient art of wet felting during this four-hour workshop. Students will learn how to transform wool roving into a three-dimensional vessel through the resist technique using just your hands, olive oil soap, and water. Students will also learn how to shape and form their vessel through wet felting, how to blend colors and create patterns in the felt, and how to use cutting techniques to create an organic lace effect in the bowl or basket.
