The Liberal Arts: Humanities and Social Sciences A.A. program prepares students for academic success in baccalaureate transfer programs in liberal arts disciplines. By offering students courses that reflect a diverse set of global and cultural perspectives, the program expects students to explore and reflect on human experience.

Program Learning Outcomes

  • Students will analyze and interpret diverse forms of cultural, historical, artistic, and psychological expression to evaluate meaning, context, and impact.
  • Students will apply principles of effective communication in English and another world language, and construct and defend arguments in written, oral, and visual formats tailored to diverse audiences.
  • Students will demonstrate an understanding of human behavior, diverse cultural perspectives, and ethical considerations in the humanities and social sciences, fostering inclusive and informed viewpoints.
  • Students will locate, evaluate, and synthesize a variety of sources to support inquiry and produce original research that adheres to disciplinary conventions.
  • Students will create original works or responses—such as essays, performances, artworks, or presentations—which apply discipline-specific knowledge and reflect personal insight.
