SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching, 2019

Professor O'Connell has taught for SUNY Schenectady County Community College since 1994. She teaches in all programs in the School of Hotel, Culinary Arts and Tourism. Prior to teaching, she held management positions in lodging and food and beverage. She continues to work in the hospitality industry part-time, most recently in catering for Sodexo at the State University of New York at Albany. Professor O’Connell brings her experiences from decades of work in hospitality to the classroom, helping students achieve their career goals.
