CHS Costs and Scholarships

College in the High School Tuition

SUNY Schenectady College in the High School (CHS) courses are offered to students at 1/3 the cost of SUNY Schenectady Tuition. For the 2025-2026 academic year that is $74 per credit or $222 for our 3-credit course and $296 for our 4-credit courses.

Students who do not live in Schenectady County must submit a Certificate of Residency or higher tuition fees will apply. Without this Certificate of Residency on file by October 13, 2025 for Fall and full-year courses or March 9, 2026 for Spring courses, the cost of courses increases from the discounted rate of $74 to $220 per credit or $660 for our 3-credit course and $880 for our 4-credit courses. Additionally, students who do not submit a Certificate of Residency are not eligible for any scholarship consideration.

CHS Aid and Scholarship Opportunities

Need Based Aid

The NY State Governor announced an initiative to provide universal free school meals. This has eliminated the need for parents to complete income-based free and reduced-price meal applications with their school districts. In the past, we have utilized this information from the district to help us identify students of need who would benefit the most from free or reduced CHS tuition. This year, we will be working directly with districts to identify high-need students just after registration closes. This can be found on our Dates and Deadlines page. If parents and students have specific questions, please work with your High School CHS Instructor to contact the CHS Primary Coordinator for your High School.

CHS Scholarship

Students are also welcome to apply for scholarship consideration by completing our CHS Scholarship Application by the application deadline found on the Dates and Deadlines page. This funding is in part from a generous donation from the Stewart’s Family (owners of Stewart’s Shops) to the SUNY Schenectady Foundation. Awards amounts are based on funding ability and the number request received.

Schenectady County Higher Education Promise

Schenectady Country residents are also eligible for addition funding in the 2025-2026 academic year. The Schenectady County Legislature approved a resolution to provide funding for the Schenectady County Higher Education Promise program. CHS students for whom their primary residence is Schenectady County will be eligible for tuition support through this fund.
