A Scotia native, Arla JN Wilding is an SCCC School of Music graduate and obtained her Bachelors’ Degree from the University at Albany in Vocal Performance in 2009. She has taught a variety of courses at SUNY Schenectady: Beginning and Intermediate Piano, Applied Voice, Aural Skills, Music Fundamentals, and Literature and Style at SUNY Schenectady since the fall of 2011. She also accompanies the voice majors on campus.

Arla has maintained a private voice and piano studio for the past thirty years. She is an active accompanist and children’s choral director in her church and in the community. She sings with the Hudson-Mohawk Chorale under the direction of Ms. Susan Hermance Fedak.

In April 2016, Arla was awarded the Outstanding Adjunct Faculty/Staff Member of the Year by the SUNY Schenectady Student Government Association. In 2019, she was presented the SUNY Chancellor’s Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Arla has been married to her husband, James, for thirty-one years and they are the proud parents of four children: MaryKate (Stephen), Nathaniel, Jonathan (Haven), and Thomas. Arla loves to spend time with her children and four delightful grandchildren—Eleanor (5), Harper (3), Nathan (almost 3), and Avery (1).
